Happy New Year!
I am extremely pleased that this website--based in Honolulu, Hawaii--has gone online.
Kikaida was very popular in Hawaii 29 years ago, and now all the original members of "Generation Kikaida" are passing on their passion for Kikaida to the children of today. The Kikaida story is also a popular superhero series in Japan. In the story, I portray the main character Jiro, a young biker who transforms into the android Kikaida. The Kikaida story is built around Jiro's pure character, and although he is a robot, the theme that he sustains throughout is one of human love and compassion. And so, the program may be 30 years old, but you might say that the story is timeless. I hope everyone who watches the show will do so with the innocence of a child.
I am honored that Volume 1 & 2 of the Kikaida DVD have been released in Hawaii and have been overwhelmed by the response. I would like to express my thanks to Joanne Ninomiya, President of JN Productions, and her entire staff who produced the DVD and put this new website online.
I am making a number of appearances in Hawaii in the New Year, and I hope to see all the fans of Kikaida, both old and new.
I will do my best on this new website, and I ask for your continued support.
Aloha,
Daisuke Ban
